What is an Au Pair?

An Au Pair is a young woman who travels abroad to live with a host family, care for children, and share everyday life in exchange for accommodation, meals, a monthly allowance, and a rich cultural exchange.

Being an Au Pair means:

  • Caring for, playing with, and supporting children

  • Discovering a new version of yourself in a new context

The Netherlands is where we currently run our programs a multicultural, safe, and inspiring place to start your Au Pair journey.

What can you expect from this experience?

Requirements to become an Au Pair in the Netherlands

To apply through Bon Voyage, you must:

  • Be between 18 and 25 years old

  • Genuine interest in children and family life
  • Willingness to commit for 12 months

  • Good physical and mental health

  • Know how to swim and ride a bike

  • Conversational English level (B1)

  • Latin American nationality

  • Be single and have no children


Your responsibilities as an Au Pair

Your main role is to help the host family with child care. You are like a big sister.

Examples of tasks:

  • Take the children to school and pick them up

  • Make simple meals for them (lunch, snacks, dinner)

  • Plan activities for the children

  • Play with them, read stories, and keep them company

  • keep their spaces clean and tidy

Important! This program is not a job. It is a cultural exchange. You live as part of a family and help with children and simple household tasks.

  • Maximum 30 hours per week (up to 8 hours per day)

  • 2 free days every week

  • Paid holidays and time to learn Dutch
