Between Bikes, Flowers and Cups of Coffee
🌷Small details from a big adventure
I just remember feeling happy and excited.
I knew I was going to care for two little girls, ride a bike, see new landscapes… and eat a lot of cheese.
But I never imagined how much this experience would truly give me.
There's something very special about the Netherlands.
It's a quiet, organized country, full of traditions and beautiful landscapes that embrace you softly—without making noise.
At first, everything felt new: the language sounded like a tongue-twister, the weather was strange—changing suddenly from sunshine to rain… or both at once.
I realized that here, the bike isn't just transportation.
It's freedom.
It's leaving in the morning with cold air on your face, looking in the mirror and seeing your cheeks all red.
It's riding through parks and feeling safe, crossing little bridges, spotting tulips everywhere, breathing clean air.
I became a big fan.
I fell in love with gezellig.
It's a Dutch word you can't really translate, but you can feel it.
It means feeling comfortable. Feeling at home. Feeling at peace.
It's a slow conversation, a warm cup of tea or coffee, a living room with candles lit, a quiet little laugh.
That's gezellig. And you'll feel it often.
And the flowers? They're everywhere.
On bikes, balconies, market stalls, and even train stations.
In spring, everything blooms. Everything is more colorful, more beautiful, more joyful.
And so are you.
Today, when I look back, all I feel is gratitude and love.
For the little things.
For what I learned.
For how I grew.
For how I expanded, for what I discovered, and for how I changed.
For being brave enough to go.
